Customized facials are tailored treatments to help address specific skin concerns. They are a great treatment option for patients with acne. The esthetician can safely extract clogged pores (also known as comedones, blackheads, and whiteheads) and avoid infection and scarring. The extractions help reduce inflammation associated with acne. While most facials are performed to treat acne, they can also help decrease redness and improve skin hydration. Customized facials can be performed during any time of the year, even when patients are in the sun.
Our licensed esthetician, Camille Jeannine, has over nineteen years of experience and can treat all skin types.
Patients of all skin types and ages can receive a customized facial, including patients who are pregnant and breastfeeding.
Patients who are using topical retinoids, such as tretinoin (Retin A®), tazarotene (Tazorac®), and adapalene (Differin®), and any over-the-counter retinol five days before the procedure to avoid any irritation.
After makeup is removed, the face is cleansed and massaged while steam is applied. This improves the skin’s circulation and facilitates lymphatic drainage. The clogged pores are manually extracted. Depending on the skin’s needs, various treatments can be performed. Microdermabrasion can be performed for an additional fee to gently resurface the skin. High frequency can reduce redness and inflammation. A face mask is then applied to help close the pores and hydrate the skin. Moisturizer and sunscreen are applied.
Side effects of a customized facial include redness, swelling, and irritation, which subsides within 48 hours. Patients can use aloe to calm down these reactions.
Patients are advised to use aloe if they experience redness, swelling, and irritation. Furthermore, patients can restart topical retinoids, salicylic and glycolic acid, and benzoyl peroxide a few days after the facial.
Patients notice immediate clearance of clogged pores, brightening of skin, and increased skin hydration. Customized facials are recommended every three months and can be performed more often in patients undergoing acne treatments.
