Excel® V Laser

What is Excel® V Laser?

Excel® V Laser consists of two handpieces, CoolView and Genesis V. CoolView utilizes two different wavelengths to target blood vessels of varying depths. As a result, a series of treatments can effectively reduce fine telangiectasias or blood vessels, angiomas, rosacea, diffuse redness as a result of rosacea and sun damage, periorbital veins, venous lake, and red scars. Genesis V is a non-ablative treatment that uses microsecond pulses to heat fine blood vessels in the dermis while stimulating collagen. Consequently, a series of treatments reduces the appearance of acne scars and wrinkles.

How does Excel® V Laser work?

Excel V BA

Post-treatment photos taken two weeks later show decreased facial redness, broken blood vessels, and purple discoloration of cheeks, nose, and lower eyelids.

The CoolView handpiece utilizes two different wavelengths. The 532 nm wavelength targets red blood vessels, such as those found in fine telangiectasias, angiomas, red scars, rosacea, and blood vessels responsible for causing diffuse redness. The 1064 nm wavelength targets purple blood vessels, such as periorbital vessels and port wine stains.

Genesis V is a non-ablative, 1064 nm laser treatment. It uses small pulses of heat to heat the dermis to stimulate collagen production while targeting fine blood vessels. As a result, there are decreased acne scars with minimal downtime.

What can you expect during Excel® V Laser treatment?

Ultrasound gel is applied to the treatment area and eye protection is provided. The Excel® V Laser is glided on the treatment area while pulses of light target the blood vessels. There is mild discomfort as a result of the pulses. During treatment, superficial blood vessels can disappear or bruise while areas with background redness may swell or turn red. The laser tip has a cooling mechanism to help reduce redness and swelling. After treatment, ice packs and topical arnica are applied to decrease bruising, redness, and swelling.

Patients who are receiving Genesis V treatment do not require ultrasound gel. Rapid pulses of light are emitted to the treatment area. There is minimal redness and swelling that occurs, which subsides within a few hours after treatment.
